What is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. When left untreated, many orthodontic problems get worse. These orthodontic problems can contribute to abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth or misalignment of the jaws joints, which can result in chronic headaches or pain in the face and neck.
An orthodontics specialist, like Dr. Antosz, only does orthodontics. Orthodontists have years of highly specialized training above and beyond that of general dentistry in correcting jaw and bite irregularities. Just as we seek the opinions of medical specialists, such as cardiologists or dermatologists for specific medical problems, it is important to choose the proper dental specialist for bite corrections.
